The key to a community’s success is its people. Effective individuals provide effective ministry. So it’s important that all members of a presbyterate, parish, organization or religious community are effective, both personally and professionally. The principles of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People program gives participants the foundation to achieve higher levels of effectiveness in both their personal life and ministry.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a three-day workshop that focuses on the “inside-out” approach to personal and interpersonal leadership development based on the well-known book by Stephen Covey. The 7 Habits program teaches that we must establish and nurture qualities of character in our personal lives before we can authentically celebrate meaningful interpersonal relationships with others.

The 7 Habits are:
Be Proactive

Take initiative • Manage change • Respond proactively • Keep commitments • Take responsibility and be accountable • Have a positive influence on results

Begin With the End in Mind

Define vision and values • Create a mission statement • Set measurable team and personal goals • Start projects successfully • Align goals to priorities • Focus on desired outcomes

Execute strategy • Apply effective delegation skills • Focus on important activities • Apply effective planning and prioritization skills • Balance key priorities • Eliminate low priorities and time wasters • Use planning tools effectively • Use effective time-management skills

Through presentations, audio-visuals, personal reflections and group discussions, the seminar teaches fundamental principles and practices that strengthens proactive, collaborative, creative and balanced approaches to pastoral leadership.
