On this day our church celebrates the feast day of the greatest “Foster Dad” in the history of humankind – St. Joseph. He answered God’s call when the angel appeared before him and said “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21).
Pope Pius IX proclaimed Saint Joseph the patron of the Universal Church in 1870. He is also the Patron Saint of all workers.
