Last week NFPC This Week published an address by San Diego Bishop Robert McElroy given at a seminar organized by the Institute of Policy Research and Catholic Studies at the Catholic University of America in partnership with the AFL-CIO. The National Catholic Reporter (Jan. 17, 2017) produced a summary of presentations of all speakers at the seminar titled, Erroneous Autonomy: The Dignity of Work. In addition to Bishop McElroy, they included Cardinal Sean O’Malley, OFM Cap, archbishop of Boston and the only US member of Pope Francis’ Council of Cardinals; Stephen Schneck, director of the institute; Sister Carol Keehan, DC, president of the Catholic Health Association; Holly Taylor Coolman, professor at Providence College; David Cloutier, professor of theology at Catholic University; Joan Rosenhauer, vice president of Catholic Relief Services; and Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO.
