The Pope’s Monthly Prayer Intention November 2018 – In the Service of Peace
“In the Service of Peace” is Pope Francis’ prayer intention for November 2018. Each month, the Vatican issues a video during which the Holy Father reflects on the theme of the monthly prayer intention for the challenges of humanity and the mission of the Church. Please use the link below to review the November video. You can also share it on your Parish’s electronic bulletin board, website, or social media page.
The monthly prayer theme is promoted throughout the world by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. Along with the video, a contributing author shares his/her reflections on the monthly prayer theme. This month’s reflection is given by Deacon Ted Penton. Ted currently serves as the Secretary of the Office of Justice and Ecology of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States and will be ordained a priest in May 2019.
We have tried so many times and over so many years to resolve our conflicts by our own powers and by the force of our arms. How much blood has been shed; how many lives have been shattered; how many hopes have been buried. But our efforts have been in vain.
Lord, God of Abraham, God of the Prophets, God of Love, you created us, and you call us to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be instruments of peace; enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our brother or sister. Make us sensitive to the plea of our citizens who entreat us to turn our weapons of war into implements of peace, our trepidation into confident trust, and our quarreling into forgiveness.
Renew our hearts and minds, so that the word which always brings us together will be “brother”, and our way of life will always be that of Peace. Amen.
