Published by the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management, the Standards for Excellence are intended to describe how the most well managed and responsibly governed parishes operate. They provide benchmarks related to temporal affairs to determine how well a parish is fulfilling its obligations to those who benefit from its ministry programs, to contributors, and the public both inside and outside the Church.

Priests in Council: Making Presbyteral Council Meetings More Effective

A 24-minute recording, narrated by former NFPC president Fr. Nick Rice, is available in VHS and DVD format that offers guidelines on how presbyteral councils can be more effective by discussing attributes and principles of successful councils. A Bishop and His Priests Together: Resources for Building More Intentional Presbyterates

Father J. Ronald Knott, a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, has written another fine and helpful resource for priests and presbyteral councils. The volume is a collection of essays and documents, many written by Father Knott himself, based on his experience and research as Director of the Institute for Priests and Presbyterates at St. Meinrad School of Theology. The book contains five chapters: 1. A Vision of Unity, 2. The Ministry of Unity, 3. Some Tools for Unity and 4. Various Issues Related to Unity, and, 5. A Parable of Unity.
