49th National Convocation of Priests

HIGHLIGHT #1: Topic, Speakers, Anaheim!

Last year our Convocation speakers explored how to bring Pope Francis’ teachings to parish life.  This year we expand on that theme by looking ahead at what we can expect in our parishes and for our ministry as we pursue Forging a Future with Pope Francis.

We once again have outstanding speakers to address practical issues relating to our ministries:

Bishop Robert McElroy (San Diego) will speak on “The Pastoral Theology of Pope Francis.

Kevin Appleby (Senior Director of International Migration Policy for the Center for Migration Studies) will share his insights on Immigration and the US Catholic Church.

Fr. Ken Simpson (Chicago) will help us navigate the personalities and idiosyncrasies of those born after 1984, referred to as Millennials, and how to encourage their participation and ministry in the church.

Fr. Luke Ballman (USCCB, Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations), will share with us the latest report from the CCLV.

Mark Gray (CARA) will give us an overview of information from their latest study on ‘Catholic Parishes of the 21st Century.’

Fr. Tony Cutcher (NFPC President) will fill us in on the State of the NFPC, and will also set aside time for discussion of issues relating to the State of the US Presbyterate.

Bishop Arturo Cepeda (Auxiliary from Detroit) will be our main celebrant and homilist for our Convocation Liturgy on Tuesday evening, after our guided tour of the Christ Cathedral campus. There will also be an opportunity to celebrate Liturgy Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

The Touchstone and Mandatum award recipients (not yet named, check back for more information!) will share thoughts with us at our Awards Dinner on Tuesday night.

As is our custom, Wednesday afternoon and evening will include free time for sightseeing or relaxation in this beautiful Anaheim, California area, full of many sports and tourist sites.

Our Goal = to nourish body, mind and soul, and return all to your ministries rejuvenated and encouraged, with a network of contacts to keep you connected and supported.
