COUNCIL NOTES: Members at the September meeting the Oklahoma City Council received a report on a meeting that had taken place for the Planning Process for Possible Parish Consolidations and Priests Assignments. Minutes note that not many concrete suggestions were brought forward. Some alternatives to Sunday Mass were discussed. In new business, a report on seminarians indicated that the archdiocese has 17 seminarians - the most in some time - in various parts of the formation process. Minutes also note the vocation team agreed that youth directors are very important to the process and a personal invitation by pastors and others are key to making contact. A member raised a concern that the formation he received inadequately trained him to administer a parish. He was invited to speak at the next council meeting. Finally, minutes state that council members elected the following officers: Father Tony Taylor, chairman; Father Bruce Natsuhara, vice-chairman; and Father Bill Novak, secretary.
